It doesn't matter either way, since they are going to leave at the end of the season, but if you offered a new contract it would remove the warning.

That's one of the cards I'm still missing. I had a book of the first set, and only Charizard, Raichu, and Venusaur are missing from my collection.

Pretty much. Gyms already change hands pretty much hourly, so if they were individually-owned, it would be impossible to control one long-term.
