Plymouth Catchers Insider!

Postby DarioDiConca » Mon Sep 22, 2014 5:31 pm

Aye-oh my fellow managers!

Charles Anigam was a Hogwarts student, football and quidditch fan, he played at the Gryfindoor´s quidditch team as a Keeper. He was known at the quidditch fields as Dario Di Conca, a football player that he idolized. After his formation, he decided to don´t apply for some boring job at the ministry, instead he ran away from the busy London metropolis and went to Plymouth to start his own Quidditch team. In the past, Chasers were known as "Catchers", and for Dario, the Chasers are the most important position in the field, so Plymouth Catchers was the right name to give.

And all started in the 14th season. The Catchers (as they are known) played their first season in the Iron League with only local players, but Dario knew that was not enough. With the help of his house-elf Hokey that scouted the entire country looking for potential quidditch players, he started to reformulate the team with young players, a squad that one day could lead the club to Honour League.

1#Damon Quinn - Chaser/Keeper

Last member of the "1st chasers trio" to join the hall of fame. He played 14 seasons in Plymouth, arriving with only 21 years and becoming famous as one of the notables of the "chasers trio", in gold league and when the Catchers arrived to honor , some strategical changes were made in the squad, several players changed their main favorite position, Dario believed that this strategy would improve the team without spending too much money, so 2 players of the original chasers trio were moved out to other positions, Lucinda Gray was adapted to beater and Damon to keeper, the young beater Kent Davidson was adapted to chaser. Damon was a good chaser, but their performances as a keeper were from another world, sooner he was called to England main squad, and he was considered honor´s best keeper for several seasons. Damon Quinn was present in all Catchers big moments and titles until the CWC final where he performed his last match with the Catchers shirt. Damon Quinn is a legend of the legends, so he and Kent are the 1st players to entry in the "icons hall of fame", where only the best of the bests will join.

Legends

Currently, he got a role in Plymouth Catchers staff team as the seekers coach.

1#Nadia Curry - Keeper Image

The "Mohawk Girl" was the first Catchers captain. Ferocious between the rings, since the beginning, she became the leader in the pitch, organizing the entire team from backwards. Only with 27 years old and after 8 seasons as a reserve, Ross finally won the spot as main seeker, and what an excellent way of winning it, grabbing the snitch that gave them the honor league. Finally i met the Phoenixes manager! I can see for your roster that you´ll be here for a long time as i hope so, one of the teams i respect it most. My goal is at least 12 seasons in a row (this next full year), it´s not going to be easy! And try to compete for the honour league, another rough challenge, i believe my team isn´t still in there full potential, and there is you guys ,Wands and other strong teams like Devils.
I started now documenting all this stuff, because my older players ( the old ones in the 1st generation) are getting substituted, so to get the face prints and make some tribute was probably now or never.

The 1st post will be updated through the time, and i´ll try to add some histories about the team, and about his coach and staff in a style similar to "the Rathlin Island Wraiths". And maybe be more specific about the chronological time, in what time the history is proceeding and so on.
I hope to see some Phoenixes´s histories ;)

Cheers!

1st post updated!

And for the 26th season, the Catchers have made a big investment! Hiring the veteran beater Willis Raikes from Oxford Street, the seeker Lorelei Mackay and the young-talented Britney Andrews. Nadia Curry and Lucinda Gray said goodbye to the club, but who knows if someday they return with other duties. With this investment, the Catchers want to win the Honour League, and stand with a competitive team for the next seasons! With only 10 matches ahead, the Catchers are in 1st place, but only with 1 win advantage over the Phoenixes, and 2 win advantages on Devils and What. The Catchers stadium has been full all season, and the big support by the Plymouth people has been well deserved with some high quality quidditch being played by the local team.

Catchers are fighting in probably one of the most tight competitive Honour Leagues of all time, no one of this 4 rivals want to miss the gold. The 2nd most young team in the league wants to make history but the charismatic seeker and Catchers captain Lorelei Mackay doesn´t talk about pressure:

"This is just our 2nd season in Honour, my companions made a excellent debut season and right now we are for sure a league win contender. But we have the perfect notion that you´re still the underdogs, beside us we have historical and well experienced quidditch teams."

Catchers coach Dario Di Conca talks about the pride on this team:

"Independently of a possible Honour League victory, i´m completely proud and happy with the results we are getting in such short time. When i arrived to Plymouth, i never thought this would be possible. The feedback that i´m getting from the locals is very positive, and they think in the same way that i do which is great. Our goal is the victory, but as i said to my team there´s no pressure on us,only in them."

 As a Catchers fan, i think i can talk in the name of all Plymouth people, quidditch and non-quidditch fans. Go ahead boys and girls! Bring the :Honour1st: !!

Some choking news from Plymouth!!

Rumors said that Catchers captain Lorelei Mackay will leave the team in the end of the season! Confronted with the rumors, Lorelei reply:

"I have more 4 years of contract with the club, but the Catchers have freedom to negotiate my contract with any other club that could interest me. Right now, i´m just focus in leading my team in the championship."

In the press conference, after Catchers loss against the Legionnaires Dario Di Conca didn´t assure or rejected the rumor:

"No one will leave the team until the season ending. After that ,any of my players have freedom to negotiate a future transfer with me. You will know of future transfers in an appropriate time."

The Season Big Finale

The Nest was literally full, all wizarding world was standing still to this incredible finale between the Catchers and the Phoenixes. The winner of the match would be the 26th Honour league champion!

The Catchers arrived first to the pitch in a chorus of "boos", a special match demands a special entrance. And all the Catchers line-up flew throughout the stadium creating an impressive old ship!

Image
Catchers entrance

The flying ship overflew the entire stadium until the home team arrival! And in a chorus of hysterical screams and cheers a savvy big Phoenix came rising up. The Phoenix launched flares to Catchers´ boat, destroying it, then the two symbolic figures fade out and face to face there were standing both quidditch teams! The commentator shouted:

"It´s water vs fire in a complete inferno! And it´s starting right now with Catcher´s chaser Hilda Ford!"

(...)

3h14 mins later

"What a match the teams are virtually tied... oh wait Nathania spot something. The snitch was spoted!!! Nathania and Lorelei are racing head-to-head, it´s the decisive snitch!!! Incredible the players had stopped playing the game, they are now spectators!!!! This is unbelievable!! Nathania comes out ahead and catches the snitch!!The Phoenixes are the new honour league champions!!!! Phoenixes 460:390 Catchers

Catchers players landed in the ground. Kent Davidson couldn´t hold the tears, the young player that started in Iron league became one of the most notable chasers in the world and made one of the best games of his career. The team went to the locker-room all reunited. Dario Di Conca waited in the corner, observing all the players that grew in the game with him. 10 years ago they were playing in 3000 attendance stadiums... today they played for millions, to an entire world. They did n´t accomplish their season goal, but they fought bravely. And that´s exactly what Dario said to them.

They enter to the team bus, leaving behind echoes of glowing lights and fires, the Phoenixes were celebrating in a fashioned way.

Arriving to Plymouth a whole crown was standing near the Catchers´ stadium, boats launching multiple colored firecrackers. The whole town was supporting their boys and girls and each of them was properly comforted by the supporters. In a low profile way,Dario leaves to his house, thinking how lucky he was to work for such amazing people, how lucky he was for loving his job. He loved it so much, that he could n´t sleep that day. A new season must be planned and he already had a bombastic exit. However, the club was growing a lot, with 30 years old,Dario was preparing his retirement from the locker rooms to be a full-time president.

Who will be the next Catchers coach??

Who will be the new faces for the next season??

Who will leave the team???

Catchers´ Captain says goodbye

Lorelei Mackay seeker and captain says goodbye to the Catchers´ fan. Althought he played only one season in the club, it was the best season until now, and all Catchers´fans will remember him for that, despite the lost duel against Phoenixes´seeker costing Catchers the honour league championship. Lorelei was sold to Liverpool Énóis! for 40K. Hilda Ford is again the Catchers´captain.
Good luck in this new journey! Image

Role changes in Catchers

Legendary captain Nadia Curry retired from the pitches this year, played her last seasons in Oxford Radioheads returns to Plymouth and will be the new Catchers´ coach succeeding Dario Di Conca now the club´s president:

"I´m delighted for having Nadia back. She was a true leader and we missed her in this last season and half. The club grew a lot and now i need to spend more time managing it. It would be impossible to manage the club and coaching the team at the same time, Nadia retirement came in a good time"

Questioned about the season goals Dario Di Conca reply:

"This season goal is to be in the top 3."

Imogene Boyde says goodbye

No, she´s not going to retire, but it´s her last season in the club, hoping to move away in the beginning of the next season. Imogene is a true Catchers legend, 12 seasons as their chaser, she was the best player for several seasons, and one of the most influential players in the locker room. In the press conference, Imogene pronounced about her reasons:

"I´m already 34 years old, and i want to keep playing. I need to leave the club to keep playing regularly, and to leave a slot for younger players. I spoke with Dario and Nadia, and it was the best thing for everybody. I´m 120% sure Britney is ready to take a place in the line-up. Still, i want to accomplish my dream as a professional quidditch player: winning the Honour league, and we´re so close, winning it in my last season in Plymouth would be remarkable."

Asked about a future function in the club:

"I did n´t make any agreement with Dario as Fergus did, i´m still focus in my career, but if i have in the future an opportunity to work again for this institution it would be perfect."

Plymouth Catchers making impact in the market.

Catchers made a trade agreement with Basingstoke Biscione: Catchers beater Marnia Jeffrey plus 70 000 galeons will arrive to Basingstoke in the end of the season, wonder kid Olin Brice will play for Plymouth Catchers for the next years. An "unexpected trade" not predicted by anyone. Catchers fans are pleased with this agreement:

"Olin is one of the best beaters for his age, i´m sure he´ll give a big step and improve even more here in Plymouth", said a Catchers fan near the stadium.

Still, this is not the only move in the market: Catchers have bought the youngsters Xavier da Costa and Alton Malone, by 10 000 galeons and 17 000 galeons. Xavier was sold for 25 000 galeons to Kidderminster Kiddy; Alton Maloned is at the moment listed for traded and Kidderminster Kiddy are currently leading the bids with a 40 000 galeons offer.

"Now that Nadia is the coach, i´ve more time to analyse the market and look for arbitrage moves with which we could profit. We were happy with this transactions." said Dario.

Asked about players tracked for the next season:

"No one is particularly tracked, and i prefer to keep our plans just for us"

Catchers bought retiring beater from Phoenixes

Axel McHugh 34 years old beater was placed for trade by the Portsmouth Phoenixes. The Catchers made the highest big (104 galleons), a small bid justifiable with the fact that Axel will only play more 6 games in his career. Catchers Coach Nadia Curry pronounced about this trade:

"We knew that Portsmouth Phoenixes were selling several players, i alert Dario about Axel McHugh´s low price. We were n´t expecting this move from the Phoenixes, they´re still fighting to renew the honour league championship, and statically Axel is the best beater in the league. He´s motivated to win the 2nd Honor League in a row, and we´re pleased to have him here for this season finale.

Catchers are currently in 1st place, with more 4 victories than Derby Devils and the Portsmouth Phoenixes. With 6 games to be played and after that dramatic last season finale, the Plymouth Catchers are at one small step of winning Honor League for the 1st time.
