How to Play Quidditch Manager
Quidditch Manager is a free Quidditch management game you play in your browser. You take over a professional Quidditch club, build the squad, pick the tactics and run the money, season after season, chasing league titles and international cups.
There is nothing to install and no account to create. This guide covers everything you need for your first season.
Getting started
- Choose your club. Pick any club from 14 leagues around the world. Big clubs start with stronger squads and bigger budgets; smaller clubs are a harder, more rewarding challenge.
- Enter your manager name and choose how many points the Golden Snitch is worth in your career: 30, 50, 100 or 150.
- Plan your pre-season. Before your first match you can send the squad to a training camp, from a cheap home-ground camp to an expensive dragon expedition in Patagonia. Every camp builds team cohesion and adds its own mix of morale, sharpness and development.
Your week as manager
A season runs over a 52-week calendar. Each week you can:
- play your scheduled match, live with commentary or as an instant result
- buy and sell players on the transfer market or sign free agents
- set your lineup, give players broomsticks and extend contracts
- invest in your stadium, training grounds and specialist staff
- read the Daily Prophet and your inbox for news, offers and injuries
When you're ready, press Next Week. The game saves automatically.
Matches and the seven positions
Each side flies seven players:
- 3 ChasersPass the Quaffle and score through the hoops for 10 points a goal.
- 1 KeeperGuards the three hoops and stops the other side's Chasers.
- 2 BeatersHit Bludgers at opponents to break up their attacks.
- 1 SeekerHunts the Golden Snitch. Catching it ends the match.
Matches play out minute by minute. During a live match you can change formation, choose who your Beaters target, raise or lower the intensity and tell your Seeker how to hunt the Snitch. A big Snitch value makes the Seeker decisive; a small one puts more weight on your Chasers.
Building your squad
Transfers
Listed players can be bought straight away. For anyone else you make an offer, and the selling club's needs and the player's contract decide how it goes. Players whose contracts are about to run out come cheap, and free agents cost only a signing fee and their wages.
Contracts
Every player has a weekly wage and an end date. A warning badge appears 13 weeks before a contract runs out. Extend early: when a contract reaches zero, the player leaves for free.
Cohesion
Cohesion is how well your squad plays together, and it boosts or drags down every player's match rating. It grows week by week, and drops when you sign or sell players or lose matches. A settled team often beats a more talented one that has just been assembled.
Youth
At the end of each season, wizarding schools such as Hogwarts send prospects your way. Young players improve with training, match time and good facilities.
Running the club
Money comes in from home gate receipts, your annual sponsorship deal and prize money. It goes out on player wages, staff and the upkeep of your grounds and stadium. The dashboard tells you how many weeks you can last if spending stays higher than income.
- Broomsticks: five models with different strengths for each position. They wear out and need servicing.
- Grounds and staff: develop training areas and hire specialists for training, youth development, medical care, fitness and morale.
- Stadium: add seats to individual stands. Extra seats only pay off once supporters fill them.
- Potions: help injured or tired players recover faster.
Leagues and competitions
You can manage a club in any of these 14 leagues:
- British & Irish League
- German League
- French League
- Iberian League
- Nordic League
- Balkan League
- Polish League
- Luxembourg League
- USA League
- Canadian League
- Peruvian League
- Japanese League
- Oceania League
- All-African League
In Britain and Ireland you'll meet famous clubs such as the Chudley Cannons, Holyhead Harpies, Puddlemere United and Montrose Magpies. Leagues have their own formats: most play a double round-robin, while the USA and Japan finish with playoffs.
Beyond your league, the best clubs qualify for the European Cup and the Champions League. Every four seasons the Quidditch World Cup comes around: 32 nations play a group stage and knockouts, and you can lead one of them.
Tips for new managers
- Your Seeker matters most. Compare Seekers on their highlighted attributes. A great Seeker can win any match.
- Don't sign three players in one week. Each new arrival costs cohesion.
- Watch your running costs. Wages, staff and upkeep add up, so check the weekly balance before you spend.
- Match brooms to roles. A fast broom suits a Seeker; a sturdy one suits a Beater.
- Look for bargains. Listed players get cheaper if nobody buys them for a few weeks.
